Spiritual Sickness

Posted by: shradhananavati on: January 22, 2012

I see a strange phenomenon these days. Like a pandemic, it is enveloping mankind in its shroud. I don’t know what to call it as yet, so for lack of a better term I would say-’Spiritual Sickness.’ It seems the most dangerous of the lot. Almost incurable. Worse than fatal. Forget about the Mayan calendar and the end of the world; man has already started falling into the abyss, he is, in simple terms-”doomed”.

We have a plethora of maladies and these days, an even bigger deluge of  remedies at our disposal. What’s worse, it’s a free market or rather fish market. No regulation, verification or direction. The various kinds of therapies in vogue these days seem contagious. The word ‘healing’ is beating ‘love’ as the most commonly abused word. Today, there are many more people claiming-”I can heal you” than, “I love you.” Strange but true. Its a contagion. Chaotic, to say the very least.

Healing or being healed does not mean being positive 24/7. If you find people who come up to you and tell you that is the panacea for all ills, beware, they might need more help than you!

If you find people providing you with a quick fix or promising a miracle or ‘permanent’ cure, lookout-they probably suffer from permanent and irreversible brain damage!

Healing does not and cannot fulfil desires, bring truckloads of money or make anyone behave the way you want them to. Nor can it compensate for or erase your past karma/actions. Any form of therapy which promises these things is nothing but a waste of time and money.

Tarot, astrology and any form of divination is not a spoon-feeding technique or biography of your life. Anything which does not empower us, honour our freewill or respect our individuality is not divine guidance. Prophecies based on fear, judgement or promise of reward are never what the stars or planets intended.

No precious gem, sacred mantra, ritual or deity can live your life for you or give you all that you desire. The reality is-we need to take responsibility for our lives. We must be open to change, awareness and integrity if we wish to be in peace, harmony and abundance.

It is extremely important for each person to be authentic. True to oneself. Genuine. In each and every moment.

Any form of healing/therapy, whether it is to do with the past or present or future; is just a way to help us heal ourselves, become whole. Knowledge and accumulation is not the aim. It is more about knowing, experiencing, accepting and growing. The universe has blessed us with various ways to learn, to find our balance, to know the true self, to live life to our fullest potential.

Everything in life is a role we play. This includes healers, teachers, therapists, masters and priests. Not getting obsessed with forms and techniques, each one needs to discover their own truth and life purpose. It is a personal journey one undertakes, where there are no guarantees, classifications or generalisations.

There are many fake gurus, teachers and techniques which exist, in this day and age. It is vital for each one to decide on their own, what is best for them. What merely ‘feels good’ or appears nice does not necessarily mean it is helpful or necessary, always. A litany of degrees or contacts does not make a person an expert on this path. One must be able to speak and live their truth at the same time. We all need- to be our own god, our own master.

We do not need any new religions any more, instead we need to develop our own quality of religiousness, consciousness; breaking through and eschewing all that is unnecessary. Clearing the clutter, the past and all the conditioning and old patterns, in order to come back to the basics, our ‘self.’

There may be conflicts, there may be disruption; but once each one is at ease with oneself, then, this sickness and other diseases will cease.
